Lavender and Peppermint Foot Balm contains herbal tinctures and pure, essential oils especially chosen to maintain the skin of hard working feet in smooth, strong condition. Marigold (Calendula) tincture, suitable for all skin types, is antiseptic, soothing for inflamed skin, and cell rejuvenating for damaged, sensitive skin.
Thuja tincture is selected for its stimulating properties. Thuja is anti-fungal and helps to debride warts and callouses. Chamomile essential oil is antiseptic, cooling, sooths rashes, and reduces swelling on hot, tired feet. Peppermint essential oil, with its fresh minty fragrance, cleanses skin and calms aching feet. The floral Lavender scent blends well with the sharp Peppermint. Lavender and Peppermint Foot Balm is a thick, richly textured cream absorbed well by the skin. Rub this natural skincare cream in firmly, paying special attention to roughened and hard areas. Use the balm frequently; if your feet are very dry, initially at least twice a day. This balm works well for both day and night beauty routine. At night you can wear a pair of cotton socks to encourage the skin to absorb as much of the cream as possible. To give your feet an extra treat, use as a massage blend, rubbing the cream all over the feet; tops, soles and heels, not forgetting each individual toe.

Lavender and Peppermint Foot Balm History
The Romans named Lavender from the Latin verb lavare, to wash. People in India called it spikenard, after the shape of the flowers. When Tutankhamen's tomb was opened, jars filled with ungents of lavender were found. These ungents were used by the ancient Egyptians for making cosmetics and perfumes.The Greek philosopher, Diogenes, wrote of the advantages of anointing the feet with lavender, saying that if the oil is rubbed on the lower limbs it envelopes the whole body "and gratefully ascends to my nose."
Peppermint is one of the oldest medicinal herbs with documented use in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. In England it was cultivated in Mitcham, Surrey, but once harvested, carried to London so the oil could be extracted. Taking into account its present popularity as a chief ingredient for a foot balm, it is very likely it has long been used to revive weary, aching feet. Peppermint has antiseptic and anaesthetic qualities. The oil can produce first a sensation of heat on the skin, and then one of cold, which is very stimulating. And, because of the menthol contained in the Peppermint, can impart a pleasant tingling sensation to the feet, and one of the most refreshing natural aromas to be inhaled by the nose.
