- Are the balms suitable for sensitive skin?
- The balms have been created to be as suitable for most skin types as can be. Each individual skin type can be sensitive to particular ingredients, so please consult the ingredient list to see if you have any particular allergy that matches.

- Can the balms be used in pregnancy?
- Many balms can be used in pregnancy. But you may decide that you wish to avoid certain oils at this time. Please read the product descriptions and ingredients list and if you have any concerns consult a medical professional.

- What is the refund policy?
- Beautiful Balms will give you a refund or replacement should the products be supplied incorrectly or damaged in transit. Under the Distance Selling Regulations, all UK customers have the right to return goods, provided they are unopened, in their original condition and returned within 7 days.
- How are shipping costs calculated?
- Goods are given shipping prices according to their weight. There is an additional charge for handling and packaging.
- Who delivers the balms and how long does it take?
- Parcels and packages are sent by Royal Mail, First Class Post. Parcels and packages should take between 2 and 7 working days to arrive.
What is the essence of Beautiful Balms?
It is important to Beautiful Balms that we supply reasonably priced products of the highest quality, products that are a pleasure to use and really do work for you. We deal with reputable suppliers who themselves operate to high standards. The ingredients, the natural herbal tinctures, plant gels, bee products, vegetable oils and pure essential oils, are selected to have good effect with no harm to the individual or the environment.
The raw materials are from sustainable sources. Organic materials are already used in some of the products. The aim is to increase their number as far as is practicably possible.
We will strive to keep ahead of developments relating to the making of fine, ethical skincare products and flower essences.
How are the creams forumlated?
We aim to make the creams as close to nature as we can whilst maintaining the purity and shelf life. Carefully selected herbal tinctures, plant oils and gels, pure essential oils and sometimes bee products are added to a base cream. This base, called 'sweet almond base' in the product description, is produced from plant derived extracts.
The creams are composed of aqua, almond oil, coconut oil, vitamin E, jojoba oil and glycerin. They contain very small quantities of traditional preservatives and antifungicides that serve to keep them pure and impart a reliable shelf life. Research will continue to find, if it is possible, ever more wholesome and safe cream formulae.
How are the lotions forumlated?
We aim to make the lotions as close to nature as we can whilst maintaining the purity and shelf life. How are the floral waters forumlated?
A floral water, sometimes called a hydrosol, is the condensate water that is left over after the process of extracting an essential oil by water or steam distillation from a whole plant. The resulting hydrosol is a water based replica of the essence of the plant from which it was distilled.
To this subtle water, containing all of the healing and aromatic qualities of the original plant, Beautiful Balms adds pure essential oils in tiny quantities, just enough to give therapeutic value and a lovely fragrance but not so much as to detract from the refined quality of the floral water. The pure, essential oils are also aromatic plant essences but, due to the nature of their production process, much more highly concentrated.
How are the oil blends forumlated?
The oil blends are composed mainly of a fixed or carrier oil that acts as a base to 'carry' the pure, essential oils. The fixed oils, sweet almond and jojoba, have fine therapeutic value in their own right. They are excellent moisturisers and contain vitamins and minerals. The pure, essential oils are highly concentrated aromatic plant essences and it is their specific healing and beautifying properties that characterise the individual oil blends.
As good quality oils, carrier and pure essential, are naturally preservative, the oil blends can be described as products that contain all natural ingredients.
How are the aqua flower essences formulated?
The plants offer their help in balancing emotions and releasing difficult feelings. They act as 'rescue remedies'. The essence is taken from waters held on their leaves or foliage from dew or rain. Once the aqua is gathered, it undergoes an energetic process to become pure and potent. This progression, from recognition of the plant to the finished bottle of aqua flower essence, is conducted with care, celebration and ceremony. How do I store my Beautiful Balms products?
All the products are packaged in amber glass or, in the case of lotions, amber plastic. This packaging will filter out the sun's ultra violet light and afford some protection against oxidation. However, all products need to be stored away from direct sunlight and ideally in a cool, dark place. It is as well to have clean hands before using the products. Also, ensure that the caps are secured after use.
How do I store creams?
The creams will hold a good shelf life and will remain stable through normal conditions. Please check the best before dates on the labels. To ensure that creams stay pure and last well, store away from direct sunlight and in a cool place.
How do I store lotions?
The lotions have a good storage life and remain stable through normal conditions. Please check the best before dates on the labels. To ensure that lotions stay pure and last well, store away from direct sunlight and in a cool place.
How do I store floral waters?
Because of their distillation process, the floral waters, with their pure essential oils are naturally preservative. But the floral waters do need to be stored in a reasonably cool, dark place and, to ensure freshness, used within three months of opening.
How do I store oil blends?
The oil blends, are of good quality, and are naturally preservative. They benefit from careful storage, away from temperature extremes, but preferably in a cool, dark place. They can be stored in the refrigerator, especially in summer, at a cool rather than cold temperature, between 5 and 10 degrees celsius. If the oils solidify bring them back to room temperature and shake well before use. Once opened, use the oil blends within three months.
How do I store aqua flower essences?
The aqua flower essences are an 'energy' product, held in vodka and although generally robust, ideally should be kept in a cool, dark place away from electrical equipment and strongly fragranced oils.
Are the balms suitable for sensitive skin?
Most of the balms have been made to be appropriate for sensitive skin. Look for ingredients such as aloe vera gel, marigold or calendula tincture or oil and propolis, all of which are soothing and anti inflamatory. For example, propolis calming skin balm has been formulated to help with inflamed skin.
The oil blends are based on sweet almond oil which is suitable for sensitive skin. The sweet almond face cleanser in particular, has soothing qualities.
Floral waters containing their gentle distillates of witchhazel, rosewater, lavender water and orange flower water have long been regarded as good beauty treatments for sensitive skin. Some pure, essential oils, such as lavender, chamomile and tea tree are described as safe and gentle, even for children, albeit in very small quantities. But it is important for us to acknowledge that essential oils, though natural and beautiful, are also powerful and effective. These qualities impart the beautifying and therapeutic effects. With this in mind, the essential oils have been chosen and added in sufficient quantity to be effective and fragrant but also in the minimum amount to be safe.
We do our best to provide safe, gentle balms but, if you have any uncertainties, before you use a balm, rub a small amount into the skin and wait a few minutes to see if you have a reaction.
Can the Balms be used in pregnancy?
Many balms will make lovely, beautufying and soothing skin treatments in pregnancy. But it has to be said that aromatherapists give conflicting advice on the safe use of pure, essential oils at this time. Some suggest that, apart from those oils not on general sale, oils such as horseradish, rue and wintergreen, all other oils are safe, as long as they are used in small quantities. Others advise that certain oils are to be avoided because of their properties of blood thinning or causing cramps.
As for Beautiful Balms products you may choose to avoid balms containing juniper, sage and thyme for the whole nine months. And, for the first four months,avoid fennel, peppermint, and rosemary.
If you have concerns regarding these oils please consult a medical practitioner or qualified aromatherapist.
What is the refund policy?
In the unlikely event of your order being supplied incorrectly or damged in transit, we ask you to please contact us at Beautiful Balms within 3 working days of receipt and we will arrange a refund or replacement of goods.
If you change your mind and decide that you do not want the goods, under the Distance Selling Regulations, all UK customers have the right to return them, provided they are unopened, in their original condition and returned within 7 days.
You will be responsible for the cost and safe carriage
of returning the parcel, so please ensure that the goods are
packed properly. PLease return them in their original

Once we receive the goods in saleable condition, a refund for their cost will be made to your credit/debit card. This does not affect your statutory rights.
How are shipping costs calculated?
Parcels and packages are sent by the Royal Mail. The cost increases according to the weight of the parcel or package. There is an additional charge for handling and packaging.
When you place an order the shipping cost is calculated and displayed. The amount is added to your order with the total being displayed in the basket and order.
Who delivers the balms and how long does it take?
The parcels and packages are sent First Class Post by Royal Mail and they should take between 2 and 7 working days to arrive.
